When I grow up I want to become a Child Life Specialist. What is that you ask? Child Life Specialists work at hospitals and help kids handle the experience better. They run the play room in the hospital, take the kids on tours of where surgeries and major procedures will be done and tell them what will happen, try to distract distraught children with toys during procedures, provide medical play for kids to help them understand what is/has happened to them during their hospital stay, and help make the stay as enjoyable as possible for the kids.
