According to ksl Congresses approval rating is less than that of the Communist Party. I don't know what 's more sad, the fact that their rating is so low or the fact that I'm not at all surprised that their approval rating is so low. I'm not gonna lie they aren't on my list of favorite things at the moment. I may or may not have been muttering curse words about them yesterday under my breath. Honestly though I'm not just sickened by Congress, I'm sickened by Democrats, Republicans, Occupy Wall Streeters (aka the far left), and Tea Partiers (aka the far right), and pretty much everyone and everything that has to do with politics at the moment. I'm extremely frustrated with the whole thing. Do you want to know why I'm frustrated? Let me count the ways.
I'm frustrated because everyone is so busy blaming everyone else. All you hear is "Oh those damn Republicans ruining everything!" and "Oh those damn Democrats ruining everything!"
"Everyone from Occupy Wall Streeters are ruining the country!" or "Those Tea Partiers are ruining the country!"
"Conservatives hate the world!" and "Liberals hate the world!"
Seriously people? Get over yourselves.
Everyone is so busy screaming at each other that they aren't listening to each other. Don't get me wrong, I've got enough red personality in me that I know what it's like to get riled up and to believe that your way is the right way and that everyone else is, in my father's words, "A communist with a plot against America." (Yay for cold war references!) But can we just be honest for a minute here. I don't think anyone has "the answer" that is going to solve all of America's problems. Seriously everyone just needs to take a step back and a deep breath and then listen. Because I think it's never been truer that "United we stand, divided we fall."
We need to come together as a country. We need to see the things that we have in common. I think we can all agree on at least one thing - the country is headed down a bad path. We all have different solutions on how to fix it, but a democrat solution won't fix everything and neither will a republican solution. Let's stop being so polarized - separated into either extreme right or extreme left. We need a bipartisan solution, a compromise. And here's the thing about compromise - no one's going to get everything that they want. We're all going to have to take one for the team. We've done it before, compromise it what got our country started.
That's all I have to say about that.
(For now at least)
"Desire's dictate our priorities, priorities shape our choices, and choices determine our actions. The desires we act on determine our changing, our achieving, and our becoming."

Political Thoughts
I really like Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman. And no it's not just because they're Mormon. I think as far as the economy goes that Mitt Romney is the best prepared out of all the presidential canidates to get the economy going. And I think Jon Huntsman has great foreign policy. I think Huntsman was a good governor and I think he'd be a good President. And he's moderate. But I like him even more because he isn't afraid to make fun of himself. I had to share these videos of Jon Huntsman and SNL and Jon Huntsman and Colbert. I think they are super funny. Enjoy!

Dear Zombies Occupying Wall Street:
I can't put my thoughts on the zombies occupying wall street (and salt lake as of today) any better than the Beatles did in their song "Revolution". So here's the lyrics (which I don't own.)
You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that its evolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
*********
You say you got a real solution
We all want to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're all doing what we can
*********
(for the tea party, just for fun)
You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We'd all love to change your head
*********
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Basically I don't think zombie occupation is going to help anything. I don't even think it's addressing the real problem. In the words of Forest Gump:
That's all I have to say about that.

Quick Political Thoughts
Recently I was on stumbleupon, which is one of my favorite time waster/procrastinator/boredom buster sites ever. While there I stumbled upon this Amazing Blog Post which pretty much sums up America's problems nice and neatly into one little letter. I couldn't agree more with Professor O'Hare so I had to share.
I also recently found a new favorite quote:
"Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman are both Mormons. One of them could be the next President. The other one is Jon Huntsman." - Stephen Colbert

Happier Political Thoughts
My thoughts on government have changed a little bit recently. I've started to just hope that our leaders will be able to come up with good compromises. I've realized that I'll probably never find a politician that I completely agree with. And politicians will probably always do things that I think are dumb. But I'm hoping and praying for a miracle - the miracle of compromise in this crazy polarized political world. I hope that politicians will be prepared to lead and guided as they make tough decisions.

Normally You Shouldn't Get Me Started On Politics And The Direction America Is Going
I've been reading The Seven Miracles That Saved America. I've really enjoyed it but what I've liked most about it is how it points out that God has protected and helped America all along the way, so we should also expect that there will be miracles in the future. That idea got me thinking.
I had almost given up hope on America. I mean look around. Look at all the moral decay. Look at the complete (not smart people) who we have elected to run this country and where they have gotten us. I look around and see how extreme everybody is. Almost everyone is either extreme crazy right (fox news, bill o'reilly, glenn beck, sarah palin, jason chaffetz, oh my!) or extreme crazy left (obama, nancy pelosi, harry reid, oh my!). That's why I have a tendency to watch things like The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (rally to restore sanity) and the Colbert Report (yeah I'm part of the Colbert Nation!) and I read The Onion (they should win the pulitzer prize) because even though they are they're own type of extreme crazy, but they are at least funny. I talk about politics and I get really frustrated. But reading this book made me realize that it's all going to be ok.

The second I read this headline, I knew it was going to be a hilarious article!
Palin: I didn't `mess up' Paul Revere history - ksl.com Palin didn't disappoint! Just had to share! :)

Dear Billy Joel,
I vote that you start writing more verses of "We Didn't Start The Fire". Because seriously, you thought the fire was burning then back then? The fire has burned so much more in the past twenty years. I mean Clinton, Bush, Obama, Princess Di died, Waco Texas, 9/11, We got Osama, just to name a few ideas you could work with. If you could keep the song up with the times, it would be twenty million times cooler, and it's already an amazing song. Definitely one of my favorites. If you could work on that it would be amazing! :)

ATTACK of the Killer Tomatoes!
You may be wondering why I have a picture of a Killer Tomato and of Utah Representative Rob Bishop. Random, I know.
Just thought you might want to know who we elect to represent us in government.
Former teachers who showed quality movies like "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes".
I feel safe knowing that our country is in such capable hands.
